Top 10 Franklin Mint Blog Posts of 2008

It's that time of the year where you'll see a lot of top 10 lists celebrating the year's best. Well here's another...

01- Scatman Crothers - Entertainer
(There's a lot of stuff out there in cyberspace so I take pride when I bring something new to the table – stuff I haven't seen before. Scatman is one of my favorite entertainers and I want everyone to know of his achievements. Here's some rare and some very rare Scatman recordings. I plan to share more Scatman in the future.)

02- Wonderland Records - Theme From Star Wars
(Here's one of my favorite albums as a child, and to my knowledge, the first time it's been shared on the web.)

03- Gabe Kaplan
(Welcome Back, Kotter was one of my favorite sitcoms, which was the brainchild of Gabe Kaplan. Here I share Gabe's stand-up comedy record "Holes And Mello-Rolls", which inspired Kotter. I also uploaded some performances from Gabe's stand-up act and clips from some of his rarely seen movies.)

04- Robert Hegyes
(I did the same for Robert Hegyes, a.k.a. Juan Epstein, as I did for Gabe Kaplan. I appreciate Robert's work and wanted to share clips from some movies that nobody's seen since or ever.)

05- Me and My RC Commercials
(Occasionally I like to plug myself and my work...if it's worthy. I'm an advertising art director by trade and I created some commercials for RC Cola which I miraculously scored Christopher Guest to direct. I grew up worshiping Spinal Tap and used to quote the Saturday Night Live short "Men's Synchronized Swimming" often. So working with Christopher was a privilege and a career highlight. These are more than :30 second commercials...they're mini-movies.)

06- My Sesame Street Ad
(Another career highlight was working with the Sesame Street Muppets. I'm a huge Sesame Street fan and Jim Henson is one of my favorite people, ever. Contributing to his legacy, in a small way, was a real honor.)

07- Evel Knievel
(Again, I like to contribute something new to the web. Here I posted a Evel Knievel interview from 1970's children's show, Wonderama.)

08- Mystery Funk 45's
(I've had these four amazing funk 45rpm's in my collection since childhood and there's absolutely no information about them on the web. I also included the original artists' versions of these cover songs.)

09- Jerry Reed (1937 - 2008)
(I'm a big fan of Jerry Reed...both his music and acting...and was saddened by his passing. Here I share a compilation of his best songs that you won't find on a "Best Of" collection. I also uploaded a few clips from his lesser known movies.)

10- My Chlidhood Art
(Here's a peak at just how warped my mind really is...even at a young age.)

And here are some runners-up...

11- Don't Shoot The Electric Piano Player
(I'm a fan of the Fender Rhodes electric piano...especially on the jazz funk tip. Here's a funky compilation.)

12- Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
(The most experimental and my favorite of all the Godzilla movies.)

13- The Mechanic (1972)
(I want more people to know about this amazing Charles Bronson/Jan Michael Vincent film.)

14- The Mephisto Waltz (1971)
(I also want more people to know about this great Alan Alda/Jaqueline Bisset film.)

15- Nude and Dismembered (1989)
(Here's a horror movie I made with my friends in high school. So bad it's good.)

Until next year...
